Oropos is a city in northeastern Attica, on the coast of the Evoikos Gulf. It is 54 km from the city of Athens and communicates with the transport network via the Athens - Lamia highway and the Athens - Thessaloniki railway network. It is the seat of the Municipality of Oropos. The holiday complex of Oropos consists of the homonymous settlement, while neighboring villages are Milesi, Markopoulo, Skala, Sykamino, Halkoutsi, Nea Palatia and Agios Konstantinos. Oropos in ancient times was the tough agricultural center of the town of Tanagra in Boeotia and originally belonged to the Panionidis breed. The area is placed in today's position of Skala, on the border between the administrative power of the Thebans and the Athenians. In 373 BC. the city of Boeotis, destroyed by the Athenians, and later emerged as an independent apartment in Attica. Geographically covers the area from today's Tanagra Viotia to Kalamos, Attica. Today satellite villages of the traditional rural center are Skala, Markopoulo, Nea Palatia, Sykamino, Halkoutsi, Agios Konstantinos, Agios Apostolos, Milesi village and Avlona, a town of Attica. The holiday villages of Dilessi and Plaka belong to the Municipality of Tanagra in the prefecture of Boeotia.
