Kypseli is an area of Athens in the 6th municipal community of the Municipality of Athens, with a population of about 50,000. It is 1.5 to 3 km north of Omonia Square, east of Patission Street and north of Field of Areos. Its center is Kypselis Square, which officially bears the name "Plateia Kanari", in honor of the hero Konstantinos Kanaris, who has been living for many years in the area, specifically 56 Kypseli Street, where there is a commemorative plaque in his honor.Kypseli's center is Kanari Square, commonly called Kypseli Square, and the surrounding squares. The central streets of Kypseli and at the same time roads leading to the Plateia are the Kypselis and Spetses streets to the south, Velvendos Street to the east, Hekate and Dafnidos streets to the north and the streets of Lesbos and Kallifronas to the west. The overgrown, wide pedestrian street of Fokionos Negri Street has a dominant position in Kypseli. A stream runs down the road, which was covered in the middle of the 20th century to create the wide promenade with dense and high vegetation. Along the road, there are several fountains and many sculptures. Extensions of the original Kypseli are the neighborhood of Nea Kypseli, which extends to the district of Gyzi, and Ano Kypseli, north of Nea Kypseli, which extends to Attica Alsos and the Municipality of Galatsi.
