Mandra is an area of Western Attica. It is located in the western part of the Rariou-Thriasio Field, between the ancient historical areas of Eleusis and Megara, at the foot of the pine-tree-covered Mount Father. It is the seat of the Municipality of Mandra - Idylia (one of the largest in extent of municipalities) and the historical Koundouras of Attica known for their heroic action in 1821. The municipality includes the ancient cities of Eleftheres and Myoupolis in Kitheronas. The name of the city of Mandra is mentioned by the tragic poet Sophocles in excerpt no. 587 and by Theocritus in his "Romulus" in Chapter D 61. Also, the French Francois Puqueville during his tour in 1815 had mentioned in his work "Journey to Greece" Mandra as "the village of Kithairon". From the ancient city of Eleftherios came the famous Myronas, the oldest sculptor who, among other works, made the famous disco. The Mandra area has one of the most extensive logistics facilities in Attica. Also in Mandra operates the largest aggregate quarry in Southeastern Europe of the company Halyps in Keramidza. The area has the appearance of a quiet suburban town, which has many pine-covered areas such as Kiafas, Kostili, Makelari and others. while the urban image is mainly houses that have a garden.
