Moschato is a district of the southern sector of Athens, a municipal unit and seat of the Municipality of Moschato-Tavros of the Southern District of Athens. It is bounded west of Kifissos and east of Ilissos, while south of the Faliro bay. Its northern section is crossed by the lines of the ISAP and Piraeus Street, which divide the residential area from the industrial area of Moschato, which includes crafts of footwear, clothing, food, ceramics and building materials, with the Kallikratis Program, the Municipality of Moschato merged with Tavros to create the new Municipality of Moschato-Taurus. The central and largest square of Moschato is the Metamorphosis Square, which houses the homonymous cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Savior, while the second largest square is the Iroon Polytechniou Square, which is located at Korai Street, opposite the Town Hall. Moschato has a large network of modern pedestrian streets. The municipality of Moschato is a member of the Environmental Association of the Municipalities of Piraeus - Athens and the Inter-municipal Center for the Care of Stray Animals. The municipality of Moschato since 1987 hosts the largest carnival of the basin. Extensive palace parades with crews from Brazil and thousands of masquerades are taking place, and various theatrical and musical events lasting two weeks are organized.
