Petralona is a district of Athens. They extend from Piraeus Street to Philopappou Hill and from Chamosternas Street to Poulopoulos Bridge. They are located north of Taurus and Kallithea. To the east they are bordered by Koukaki, northeast with Thissio and in the northwest with Gazi. They are separated from the lines of the Athens - Piraeus Electric Railways in Upper and Lower Petralona. Ano Petralona is east of the lines and the Lower West. Petralona is a densely populated area with low main buildings that have undergone extensive rebuilding since the 1950s. The district was named after old stone tiles that used to be used by the inhabitants to flatten their grain. The area is served by public transport from the metro station, as well as bus and trolley bus lines.
