Pikermi Transfers
Pikermi is a settlement of Eastern Attica, on the outskirts of Athens. It is administratively governed by the Municipality of Rafina - Pikermi. According to the 2011 census, Pikermi has 2,009 inhabitants, while the Municipal Community of Pikermi, which also includes the settlements of Dionis, Agios Spyridon and Drafi. Pikermi is known for the great wealth of palaeontological finds (Pikermi fauna) that has been exhibiting since the very first years of the founding of the modern Greek state. According to one version, it owes its name to the Byzantine prince Epikeris, of which it was a possession during the Byzantine Empire. In antiquity, it was the Athenian Dormition of the Aegean tribe that was placed in the Middle East according to the administrative division of Kleisthenes. During the Frankish rule, Arvanites accepting residents as part of Mesogaias, while during the Ottoman domination it is divided into nine estates of Ottoman rulers. In 1912 it appears as a settlement of Spata, and since 1952 Pikermi is recognized as an autonomous community of Eastern Attica. The village is known for its watermills, the rich vineyards, as well as the Byzantine church of the Transfiguration of the Savior, where a feast is held every summer
